Are you a crafter looking for a creative, easy-to-make DIY project? Look no further! Here’s how to make your own fabric flowers in 10 minutes or less.

Supplies

Fabric of your choice (this project uses patriotic colors!)
Scissors (fabric scissors always work best)
Hot glue gun
Embellishments for middle of flower
Wooden Sticks such as skewers
Container such as vase or pail
Floral foam

Gather heavier fabric and a mason jar lid. Trace the lid onto the fabric, cutting out the circles. The circles don’t need to be perfect, as any imperfections will be hidden inside the flower.

Using a needle and embroidery thread in a color that matches your fabric, fold each circle in half and then in half again so you have a wedge shape. Sew along the bottom of the wedge, leaving a tail of thread on one end. Repeat the same number of stitches and length on all the circles, so they are all symmetrical and match.

As you use the thread to bunch up each petal and make it look like a flower, tie the two ends of the thread in a knot. Then, trim the ends and adjust the petals so they are evenly spaced and perfectly folded.

To complete the flower, hot glue a button to its center. To cover up any messiness at the bottom, glue a small circle of fabric over it. Finally hot glue your skewers to the back of each flower. Place some floral foam in a vase or pail and arrange the flowers how you like.

Your fabric flower(s) can be used for a variety of crafts, such as wedding decorations, flower crowns, tied onto tote bags, or even made into a hair accessory. For an extra creative touch, make a large fabric flower and layer it with a smaller fabric one or one from a craft store.
